The 2020 National Outdoor Recreation Conference is the premier opportunity for students and new professionals to present their work, learn best practices, and network with other outdoor recreation professionals. SORP provides scholarships to students and new professionals to facilitate participation in the conference and to help foster the next generation of outdoor recreation professionals.
Student scholarship recipients are undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time in an outdoor recreation research, planning, management, or policy development or closely related degree program.
New Professional Scholarship recipients are employed in the outdoor recreation profession and have completed an outdoor recreation degree within the last five years or be under 35 years of age.
Applicants for both scholarships are encouraged to ask their university or organization for funds to supplement the conference scholarship. Recipients are expected to attend the full conference.
SORP is committed to inclusivity, as well as social and environmental justice. We strongly encourage individuals of color, those with tribal affiliation, those with disabilities, those who identify as LGBTQ, veterans, and anyone else inclusively to apply for a conference scholarship.
The scholarship application process is closed.
A Culture of Giving
One of the SORP Board's key tenets is to support and nurture the next generation of outdoor recreation professionals. To that end, each year SORP board members each make a gift to the NORC Scholarship Fund. Thinking back on all that the profession has offered to your career and worklife, won't you join them?
